Trainee Lawyer & Legal Collection Manager

Maria Ribeiro dos Santos

Being from the Algarve, having studied in Lisbon, and now living in Mealhada has provided her with a unique set of personal and professional growth opportunities:

the Algarve gave her a sense of freedom, a love for the sea, and strong ties to her roots, which are deeply connected to agriculture and entrepreneurship; Lisbon taught her resilience, the ability to cope with stress and challenging realities, and to take on responsibilities; and Mealhada has shown her much about tranquility, quality of life, and security.

She is determined, assertive, focused, and hardworking, and never backs down from a good challenge. She feels fortunate to have chosen a profession that fulfills her, excites her, and motivates her to be more and better, both for herself and for others. Practicing and living the law, despite its challenges, is a privilege for her, and from a very young age, the dream of becoming a lawyer has guided her life.

She draws her greatest strength and inspiration from her Algarvian roots and her family, never forgetting where she came from and always knowing where she is going. She firmly believes that the path is made by walking, but never walked alone.

Academic Training:

Graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon in 2021.

Work Experience:

Since 2016, she has been an active volunteer in several social responsibility institutions, having held positions such as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer at both local and national levels in the LEOS of Portugal. Volunteering has allowed her to grow through contact with diverse people and realities, enriching her professional approach.

In March 2020, driven by curiosity to discover the practical side of an attorney's daily life, she interned for three weeks at the Liberum Advogados law firm while still studying for her Law degree. During this time, she had her first exposure to areas such as Insolvency Law, Criminal Law, and Criminal Procedure Law.

In 2021, she joined BAS – Sociedade de Advogados, S.P., R.L., where she interned for two and a half years, having had the opportunity to work with leading professionals, including Professor Dr. Pedro Madeira de Brito, whom she describes as a true Jurist and Lawyer, with whom she had the honor of learning to think about law. Through this professional experience, she truly understood that, while technical precision is a must in her profession, law practice cannot be separated from humanity and empathy.

During this internship, she gained substantial experience in Labor Law, Labor Procedure, Civil Procedure Law, and debt recovery.
